Q1. I’m looking at getting a mortgage
agreed in principle – what
will you need to know?
A. We will need to have your full name, date of
birth, last 3 years addresses, current residential status, salary
and any loans/HP
that you are still paying before we can search. Should you want
us to carry out one - you can contact us.
Q2. I don’t live local to you -
can I arrange the mortgage by post?
A. Not a problem, we have the systems in place
to make sure that we are able to give full advice for your mortgage
and arrange it
remotely by post. Generally we carry out a mortgage 'fact find'
over the telephone to establish your circumstances and then we
are in
a position to offer you advice. We can then forward quotations
to you by email or post and forward the relevant paperwork to
you to complete
and return by freepost. The process is very straightforward
and is carried out to the same high service standards that we expect
of
face to face meetings.
Q3. What information will I need to complete
a mortgage application?
A. This varies from lender to lender but generally the mortgage
application process is much easier if you have the following
items to hand before you start
- Last 3 months payslips and P60 (employed)
- Last 2-3 years accounts (if self employed)
- Details of any credit commitments outstanding e.g. Loans/HP/credit
cards
- Bank details
- Current Driving licence or passport
- Current proof of address such as utility bill or bank statement
Q4. How much can I borrow?
A. The maximum is well over £1 million – however the amount
that you can have is dependent on your income and credit history. Follow
this link to find
out more.
Q5. Can you still help me if I have had
problems in the past with debts or CCJs?
A. We treat all cases sympathetically and have
mortgage schemes available that allow for high levels of bad
credit or problems.
The first thing we recommend is don’t panic ! The chances
are that there is a way that we can help you. Have a look at our
help page regarding adverse credit.
Q6. Do you carry out home visits at all?
A. Yes we do. If you prefer we can come and talk to you about your
mortgage requirements. We will bring a laptop computer so that
we can source the mortgages for you in the comfort of your own
home and work out the costs for you.
Q7. Does Mortgage Base have access to
all the major UK lenders and their mortgage products?
A. Yes - by using the latest computer sourcing
packages, which are updated on a daily basis Mortgage Base can
give you the
information
you need on the best current UK mortgages deals.
Q8. Can Mortgage Base cater for all types
of residential mortgages?
A. Quite simply – yes. We will provide full
help and support on any type of mortgage whatever your circumstances.
Whether you
are a first time buyer or going through separation and need help
with borrowing - we like to think that we can help you. By the
same token we will be realistic and tell you if it is unlikely
that
you will be able to get a mortgage and suggest a positive course
of action for the future to improve your situation.
Q9. Can you help me in other areas connected
with buying a home or arranging a mortgage?
A. We certainly can. We will recommend local reputable
solicitors to help you with the legal side of your purchase. In
addition to
providing the mortgage we will talk you through protecting your
mortgage in the event of death, critical illness, sickness and
unemployment so that you can be sure that your largest investment
is protected. In addition we can quote you for competitive house
and contents insurance and also offer to liaise with solicitors
and estate agents to ensure that your purchase runs smoothly.
Q10. Will I be kept up to date with my
mortgage application as it progresses?
A. Unlike some mortgage companies who sub contract
their mortgage administration we will handle your mortgage case
efficiently and
speedily to ensure that it is offered as quickly as possible. You
will be contacted at regular intervals so that you know how it
is progressing.
